  1. I think the author put it best in regards to how the Anime is: "It's like seeing Shield Hero through Raphalia's eyes."

  2. prefer the anime's events by far… It's just so much more shounen-esque which is what I was looking for when watching it… The original makes me feel like both the queen and naofumi are just as evil and assholish as the king and melty and I'm not a fan….

  3. I dont get why the queen would offer her life,
Naofumi would get NO satisfaction from her death. Plus the trash and her cunt of a daughter would still be alive to
make hie life unbearable after shes dead. he would have gained nothing.
He should instead conveyed this exact point to the queen. And forced her into submission by gaining the upper hand with this tactic.
Forced her to execute them or refused to fight in the waves along with war with Siltvelt and Shieldfreeden if she refused.
That what i would have done and that trash and cunt would definitely be dead.

Edit:But then again im one Hateful motherfucker i can only see it from my point of view if this happend to me.

  4. So basically, the Queen in the Novel is a vicious mastermind who has no qualms about gutting her family.
I like the novel one better. Shame she didnt offer herself to make a kid with Naofumi instead of offering up her under-aged daughter

  5. I don't know I had already seen Naofumi overcome his hate a few times along the course of this show. Having him obsessed with it at this point would have been redundant. I was already tired of his rage by the time he used his cursed shield against the pope. And the thing is viewers want to see some character progression or some character growth when watching a season of anime. This is not a long-running battle shounen. we may never have gotten a season 2

  6. Many seem to forget the fact that Naofumi does not consider himself a hero. Therefore he does not have a moral conflict, when he has and must act cruelly with his enemies. The fact that he does not consider himself a hero and that in most of the time he acts in a non-heroic way in the modern sense of the concept and that his distinctive mark as a character is being a hero who does not behave like a traditional hero. Does not have no sense that in the anime they made him a generic hero. The anime partially or completely eliminated the personality that defines naofumi as a character, a hero who does not consider himself a hero, who protects a world he hates. Naofumi is not a good person beyond Raphtalia, Filo, the blacksmith and their closest companions

  7. After watching the anime I checked the LN and boy, there are things the anime did better and things the LN did better. Either way, the story itself starts to suffer quite a bit on the following volumes. I don't know if the anime is going to improve the execution of the story or ruin it, I'm not going to hold my breath on it.

  8. Well technically it didn't. In the manga naofumi takes joy in watching the Princess and King squirm at being forced to bow and crawl before him. It's all he really wanted as he knew they would never apologise. His companions are shocked by his cruelty but, ultimately understand it given what they did to him I.e strip him of everything and send him out to die. The Queen is actually in the same boat as naofumi so she understands his anger.

  9. "too dark"?
That assessment alone is worth a downvote
Just letting the queen get her way makes him unqualified for "too dark"
Raping her to death, would have been too dark. Having the king rape her to death, would have been too dark. Using the slave seal to make her torture the king would have been dark.
Demanding their deaths? Completely normal. Letting them get away with their age old BS? Just a moron. If you have great anger in you, and you KNOW only seeing those who put it there suffer and cry and beg will disperse it, and you decide to not take that option, than you are an idealistic idiot

  10. no matter the medium, those 2 got off easy.
    HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN:
Demand to be sent home. Q refuses for BS reasons. Naofumi finds out her bottom line. Ask for something barely above it. Q tries the dipllomatic-warhero thing. Naofumi notices she is willing to shoulder the blame, but unwilling to serve justice. Naofumi gives an ultimatum to the queen: make those 2 idiots suffer and be tortured for years, or he leaves for Silvelt and will work on destroying this entire country.

  11. That queen is such a bad ass in the novel. why couldn't we get that in the anime. Edge is good sometimes.

  12. You know, both SH anime and LN are pretty toothless when it comes to dark stuff. Slavery is justified if the MC does it, because he is such a nice guy, and luckily for him lolis evolve by leveling. Being an asshole to people is justified, because, boo-hoo, the MC's feeling are hurting.
And even here the Hero is not allowed to make a hate-driven mistake with negative consequences so that he actually felt in the wrong, though justified, for once.

  13. In the anime i thought she was holding some kind of device behind her, so i thought she was gonna sabotage the execution. So that her family would live.

  14. i like the changes because it makes naofumi rise faster and lets face it i do not want to wait 5 season for naofumi to start acting like a hero and start his journey to find the one piece LOL

  15. I actually like the good version of him more, cause there are waaay too many movies and tv shows nowadays, that just get vengeance and kill all those who wronged them, instead of being the bigger good person and sparing there lives.

  16. Dude the Queen is the exact same in both versions, just different plays on how they ended up on the punishment. She intentionally played Naofumi for his sake. the Anime just did it a little differently. Dont shame the anime.

  17. Even the novel is annoyingly light in tone from what i read. The author seemed to avoid him even considering killing after the start and he becomes a bit more of a martyr than a vengeful dude restraining that
