Over the last few years eating meat has increasingly been associated with health risks, like heart disease, cancer and an early death. How unhealthy is meat really?

  1. Here are our sources: https://sites.google.com/view/sourcesismeathealthy/ It is very fascinating to see that the both extremes, vegans and people on meat heavy diets hate this video. Usually we are attacked more from one direction – in this cases both ends of the spectrums are really upset. Anything relating to nutrition is very controversial unfortunately. Someone on twitter posted this: There is research showing strong links between dietary choices and social identity: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0195666319305549?via%3Dihub

So if you want to, you can find sources telling you that every kind of diet is bad for you. We tried very hard not to do that and get a real understanding what the health effects of meat are. We also did not have a particular bias, we have vegetarians, flexitarians and meat eaters in the team. And in general, since our first meat video many of us have reduced their meat consumption or at least try to. Others in the team have not changed at all and don't plan to. We don't have an overarching agenda here, one way or the other. There is a video about milk in the making right now and we also just started a video about veganism. Look forward to more diet related videos next year.

  2. I have a 'psychedelic' vegetarian approach. I don't eat mammals lol sounds even weirder in person. But I only eat fish and poultry
    No bugs either (lobster crab)

  3. Most centenarians eat very little meat and some of them don't eat meat at all. Jack Lalanne was mostly pescatarian and lived cancer-free because of that

  4. Me: sitting in a hospital bed, dying of colorectal cancer

Doctor: What will you choose to be your last meal?

    me: inhales

    S T E A K

  5. Meat has always been the "side dish" for me. My meals are mostly vegetables like 70-80% of it, and the rest meat. Thought this was pretty normal everywhere.

  6. I am a meat person. Though I do eat and drink stuff with healthy stuff. I don’t ACTUALY exercise but I still do get energy and bad stuff out

  7. the only problem is meat is required in the human diet as the brain requires the energy to function properly and it is the highest source of protein. and meat being the source of diabetes the fact is anything can give you diabetes. there are more than just one variable when dealing with diabetes sense an individuals activity is a big player in diabetes. for example a body builder will eat vast amounts of food as much as some obese people. however they burn most of the fat during there work out routine.if you do extreme workouts and if you burn enough calories you could eat as much as you want and still be healthy. for example i have heard of some body builders eating for breakfast alone a dozen eggs. when considering health make sore to take into account every variable. rather than just accounting few.
and the thing about cancer everything thing seams to be a source of cancer. what i really think is this a way of scaring people from buying certain products so there is a larger supply of the product for the rich to get it and keep it away from everyone else. sense people have been eating red meat for a few millennium now and if there really was a problem than people would not be eating meat now would we.
the problem is people now don't spend enough time researching and spend more time believing the first thing they hear. why do think we have flat earthers who denounce centuries of science and proof that the earth is indeed round. just like how people denounce the fact that some of the things people say are bad for us are somethings we have been eating for centuries.

  8. i eat almost exclusively chicken, cheese, milk, coffee, and carbs, and i can lift 40% of the world record (weight lifted over head) meat is good.

  9. Didn't our ancestors eat meat as is though? I think most assume they cooked it. They didn't have that privilege though.

  10. Encouraged me to try new foods. Now I eat even more meat because I found it tastes the best. Curse you Kurzgesagt.

  11. We already live too long, if I shave off a few years eating delicious raw steak then it's a sacrifice I am willing to make.

  12. I noticed that these studies don't control for calories. Idk what a study about meat says if they let participants eat 6400 calories every day too

  13. Fun fact for everyone feeling superior to vegans now:

Vegans don't live vegan because eating animals is unhealthy, they are living vegan because they're
    1) no animal abusers
    2) no speciesists
    3) not cognitive dissociated anymore

and because supporting animal ag is supporting climate change which will kill all of us eventually, nice!
    ur welcome <3

PS: this video lacks total empathy for the victims of your diets, the cartoon is so fucked up cognitive dissociated, it cannot even called education anymore, because it just makes people more stupid by continuing to feed them more reasons to think they're alright to call themselves animal lovers while paying for them to be gassed, raped, beaten up and murdered at young age. Congratulations Kurzgesagt on this most fucked up video on meat I've ever seen. Even the promotion films of slaughterhouses are more honest.
