did that exercise as a kid, playing with the weights of my grandpa…didnt know what i was doing
Anyone seeing this in 2020? This just popped up in my recommended, weird seeing young, shy Magnus
Finger curl
Knew about it for like 5 years at least nothing new
Come on Magnus, this is a standard exercise, you don't have to overdramatize it for the clickbait title lol
Chris Sierzant told me about this exercise when I first started climbing. However when I do it, I place my forearm along the length of my thigh so my hand and wrist hangs out past the knee. Will have to try from vertical resistance. It definitely works, people
Deutschland
Interesting. This exercise is performed by many bodybuilders. I do it myself, although with a barbell usually. Another is to take two short pieces of rope maybe 40cm each in length, and wrap them around the barbell where my hands would ordinarily be and perform a deadlift as normal but by squeezing the two ends of the rope together in each hand. I’m not a climber however so don’t know if this would be advisable or not in that regard – I’ve noticed climbers pay a lot of consideration to whether exercises carry a high risk of injury.
Guess I must be German
😀
Seems like a nice guy.
Ja, sie yoo nekchtime.
My God Magnus is one incredible looking guy. Boy if a person really wants to feel bad about them selves in just only 1 or 2 seconds all they need to do is take a look at Magnus . I find my.self going through a range of emotions while watching him climb, walk, talk, laugh damnit basically anything because I start by saying my God what a model of what happens when a human is put together perfect which then causes me to slip down into a deep dark tunnel of depression because of how I feel once I look in the mirror and just before I get to the point of putting a bag over my head and start layering sweat shirts and sweat pants to hide myself from myself, he just in time to save me begins to climb in such a way my jaw hangs open and motivates me faster than anything ever had which makes me go and try to imitate what I saw and just as fast as I got motivated , once I begin to climb the climbing troll Yanks the rug out from under me which causes me to fall back into my deep dark tunnel of depression and just as I get to the point of no return , for some reason he basically performs a climber strip tees . Which instantly pulls me out of the tunnel and get pumped to train, but once the training and climbing starts to happen reality kicks me in the face.and says look at you then look at Magnus . Even if I tried the rest of my life all I would accomplished is tendinitis and permeant joint damage. Which once again I find my self free falling down through my deep dark tunnel of depression while wearing 27 layers of sweat suits……. Lol
Honestly thanks magnus . U have single handedly got me back into solo training and get into climbing. I have recently been climbing some of the giant trees on the west coast of America . It's something like nothing else. The bark is so large and stronge , he trees have naturally created some incredible lines with 100% unique hand and foot holds that are totally unique to the tree you find your self climbing. You should really try it. I just climbed a tree that was almost 200 feet tall with not one branch untill you reached the canopy. When you reach the top the views are like no other and the speed repelling / falling with style and control is a rush all it own ontop of a new form of climbing
Also I have been installing anchor points to the largest trees I have found around my area where I live. It's wonderful in my opinion because.its almost.invisible from the ground and only climbers will ever get to witness and enjoy the work on the lines I've set up , miles and miles from any kind of rock face and natural climbing is impossible to compare to. I have.not been going to the climbing gym since I because to look at these giant.trees , with the eyes of a climber. Some areas may be illegal so if anyone reading this decides to try this please check with property owners and park rangers.
The best lines I've gotten. My friends to try we call the barber pole because instead of going g straight up the first guy up sets the number of rotations around the tree as you climb higher and higher . … This may sound sorta dumb to some.people but please don't judge it till u try it…the fact I am climbing some of the biggest living things in the world is like nothing else. Once u get up high enough u almost find your self bonding and talking to the tree and asking for it to please take.care of u and keep u safe and we as climbers and most of the time free climbers as well as climbers have some of the largest amount of respect for mother nature and the incredible gifts she gives to us and will continue to give us more and more as long as we continue to take care and preserve nature and that doesn't just include the places we.like to climb most most important are the places between the places that are so easily forgotten about….. Please magnus if you happen to read this I want to thank you for basically saving my life and well being. I had gotten to the point where I basically didn't enjoy anything . Work had and still had taken over every second of my life except now instead of me.working on my laptop at the kitchen bar 2 days ago I was 180 feet up a tree looking over a gorgeous valley and perticipating in 2 different conference calls and meeting. The second thing I want to say besides " stop taking your shirt off" lol it totally knocks the wind out of my sails but honestly the second thing is weather you know it or not you are honestly helping people from all walks and even restoring marriages and relationships that have gone stagnant. Because.climbing especially when husband and wife or GF&bf have to rely on each other for there safety as well as motivation they begin to trust and believe in each other again and more than often most likely are turned on by watching there special someone do something so hard and difficult with ease sometimes as well as each person's own style. It's really helped us… Thanks magnus , thank you more than I can express… Sorry for this long message . Please consider the enormous trees that this Earth provides us as a new or other form of climbing. I hope it will catch on and begin to shine a spot light on the incredible living thing we most of the time take for granite…. I hope some.how u read this small yet large comment and hopefully know how thankful I am to have someone like you willing to take the time to talk and relate to wood be climbers or watchers from all over the world. Maybe one day the people who enjoy your videos may get the chance to meet and climb with you if you ever have a meet up at a climbing gym…… Please be careful and safe with each hand and foot hold u take. Don't forget there's alot of people who genuinely love watching, learning and listening to anything you have to say, show or explain to all of us.. thanks again
Thanks for sharing the secret.
10:40 famous armwrestling exercise very usefull to build wrist strength
he must have spend a lot of time in the basement getting the pump going.
omg 3:00 made me spit out my food hahahaah
"juste un peu de yoga", lol
This is an old arm wrestling workout here in merica, cool to see climbers using it.
I find that technique quite interesting…definitely gonna try it!
ha ha I Hella did that in the 90 s !
Dude, are you alive?
Does anyone know the clothing brand magnus always wears/ is sponsored by? 00:40
I support Merkel's emigration policy
Bring more emigrants
At first, I have to thank you for making this video 😉
To my point of view, this exercise seems that involve the muscles. Like what open hand gripping or training on sloppers involve.
But for crimping we also need strong tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues. I guess this exercise will not involve soft tissues.
The pump caught me completely off guard.
Welcome to the internet, where everyone already knows everything and has been doing it since before it was cool. I, for one, really appreciate the forearm curl "pro tip". Everything else I've seen online focuses on hangboarding and campus training, which is extremely punishing to the fingers if you're new to climbing and especially if you were closer to 40 than to 14 when you took up the sport.
Hey Magnus, are you going to try the 9c Adam Ondra set in Norway? It would be so cool to see you trying it!
I'm also one of the people who have never heard of this exercise.. I gave it a try and you can really feel it working, thanks!
Seems like a great exercise to do even when you are injured in the finger ligaments as you do not flex the fingers that much. German secret..? 🙂 naah but a very good tip! Thanks for great content Magnus.
Shiiiit. Will definitely try this. 😀
Sebastian was a great interview. Tons of thoughtful responses and had a great personality. I love when you have other athletes on the vlog. Keep it up, Magnus!
Just another really cool vlog! Love how you keep finding new interresting stuff to show!
"See you next time as"
heheh
Thanks for the tip. I tried this exercise before but I wasn't sure if it's beneficial for climbing. I'll definitely definitely do more but with much lower weight for a start.
this is classic forearm exercise, you can also do it with a barbell for both hands at a time (check eric horst 'exercise for climbing' book)
I don't understand why there are 2 dislikes @.@
I feel like the big secret was a bit overhyped haha, but it's still a cool video, thanks!
secret starting at 8:10
Nice video! The channel is getting better and better. Sebastian seems like a very nice guy.
Lol forearm dumbbell curl is the big secret?
damn how can he do this with 43 kg thats so much compared to his body size what a beast
what is up with those "comments" about increasing traffic with different music??? o.O
The vlogs are getting better and better Magnus! Keep it up.
